When I reflect on my life’s journey, I can’t help but be grateful for the role of faith and the church in shaping my beliefs and values. Growing up, my family attended a small, welcoming church where Pastor James led the congregation with unwavering dedication. He was an inspiring figure, guiding us through both joyous and challenging times, always emphasizing the importance of God’s Word.
As I matured, my passion for the scriptures grew, and I decided to delve deeper into the Bible. I wanted to understand the context and the historical significance of each verse. This pursuit led me to study theology, and eventually, I felt a calling to become a pastor myself. My journey into ministry was driven by a desire to spread the truth of the Bible and inspire others on their faith journeys.
Chapter 2: Can a Pastor Change the Bible?
The question of whether a pastor can change the Bible is a thought-provoking one. At first glance, it might seem impossible, as the Bible is often seen as an immutable, divine text. However, let us explore this question with a humble heart and a sincere quest for truth.
The Bible, as Christians believe, is the inspired Word of God, penned by human authors under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It contains truths that are timeless and relevant for all generations. But the interpretations of the Bible can vary among pastors and scholars due to differences in theological perspectives, cultural contexts, and personal biases.

The Bible itself speaks of the responsibility and seriousness of handling God’s Word. In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, it says, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
These verses emphasize the divine origin and authority of the Bible. It instructs us to use it for teaching and correction, implying that the Word should be presented accurately and faithfully by pastors and teachers.
In Galatians 1:6-9, the Apostle Paul warns against distorting the gospel, stating, “I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— which is really no gospel at all… If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!”
From this passage, we see the gravity of presenting a distorted version of the gospel, and it reinforces the need for pastors to handle the scriptures with reverence and integrity.

In my personal journey as a pastor and student of the Bible, I have encountered various interpretations and theological debates. However, I have learned that seeking the truth requires humility, open-mindedness, and reliance on the Holy Spirit.
